The white sand between the shade and the respite of the damp sand further down the beach create a lovely foil from which to bounce colour. While it is a wonderful thing to paint because of the opportunities for contrast and playing with colour, there is also the “delicious” memories of the stilted run to the cooler sand carrying all the beach accoutrement. Pleasure and pain.
